Here are three practical steps to help you overcome your reluctance to hand out gospel tracts:
1. Go to your Kroger store and read the receipt. You are handed a “grocery tract” from a Kroger cashier every week: coupons, promotions, etc. You may receive a coupon for an ordinary oil change or a nail salon. The Kroger Co. and their advertisers are trying to influence your thinking and behavior so they hand you a “grocery tract”. If you think about Kroger Co. cashiers handing out 1000’s of ordinary “grocery tracts” every day, and compare that to the extraordinary offer of eternal life in Christ, you may become comfortable handing out a few gospel tracts.
2. Go to a mall, casino or entertainment area. You will be handed a restaurant tract promoting their specials. They want to influence your behavior so they hand you a “restaurant tract”. If you think about these restaurant tracts when contrasted with the glorious offer of the bread of life, you may overcome your reluctance to hand out gospel tracts.
3. Go to a street corner in Las Vegas. Men will be handed a “girls, girls, girls” tract. If the sex industry can use people to hand out “sin tracts” encouraging people to indulge in sexually immoral behaviors, God can use you to hand out gospel tracts encouraging people to repent and trust in Christ for salvation.
Obvious Conclusion: Kroger Co., restaurants and the sex industry use tracts to try to influence your behavior.
Challenge: You can overcome your reluctance to hand out gospel tracts.
