Are You a “Good Person?”
You may believe you are a good person. And your friends may consider you to be a good person. But take the “Good Person” test from Living Waters Ministries and see if you are a good person by God’s standard.
Take The “Good Person” Test
- Have you ever told a lie?
- Have you ever stolen anything … even as a child?
- Have you ever used God’s name as a curse word?
- Have you ever looked at pornography or had sex before you were married?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you have broken the 10 Commandments. You are guilty.
Bottom Line: You are NOT a “Good Person” according to God’s standard.
You have broken God’s laws and deserve punishment. Do you know where God sends law breakers who deserve punishment? That’s right, hell.
But God does not want you to go to hell. Do you know what He did for you? God sent Jesus to take the punishment for your sin. Although he was sinless, he took the punishment for you. It is like a legal transaction where you are guilty but your loving father steps into the courtroom and pays the fine. Jesus paid for your sin. In addition, he attributes Christ’s righteousness to you. You are no longer guilty. And you receive the righteousness of Christ.
Now that you understand your sinfulness before a Holy God you need to:
Repent of your sin and trust in Christ alone. Turn from your sin. And trust in Christ’s finished work on the cross. Jesus took your punishment and attributes his righteousness to you. Don’t trust in your own goodness, your church, or your good deeds to get you to heaven.
Then, because you are grateful to God, follow Him. Begin today to transform your life and become more like Christ. Repent daily. Read your Bible. Join a bible believing church. Pray. Practice the spiritual disciplines of the Christian faith.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
